Ken Anderlitch
Ken is proud to say he is thriving in long-term recovery from substance-use disorder.
For him, running is a crucial part of that recovery.
As a child, Ken watched his mother struggle for many years. He was helpless to change the path of her addiction and the extensive damage it inflicted on them both; damage that contributed to Ken's own substance abuse, and eventual homelessness, later in life.
When Ken was 20 he lost his mother to a drug overdose.
Now he wants to do something to help other families avoid a similar fate.
On September 20, Ken will embark on a truly heroic journey, running from Washington D.C. to San Antonio, Texas. His goal is to raise funding and awareness for a brand new program in San Antonio, Families in Recovery, that will allow families to stay together while they heal during treatment.
This program will be a cooperative venture between three existing nonprofits, each of which have played a crucial part in Ken's recovery journey.
